The Disneyland Resort is always magical, but it is especially magical during the holidays. This year is no exception as the Happiest Place on Earth will transform into The Merriest Place on Earth from November 12, 2012 to January 6, 2013. If you haven’t been to Disneyland during the holidays, you are missing out. Since I work for , I’ve had the opportunity to visit the Disneyland Resort during all of the seasons, and the holidays are unlike any other time. For the holiday theme this month, I thought I’d share a sneak peak at just some of the fun things you can experience at the Disneyland Resort during the holidays:
- Wild West fun meets holiday cheer at Santa’s Reindeer Roundup where you can join in festivities like line-dancing, sing-a-longs, live reindeer, and a visit with Mr. and Mrs. Claus themselves.
- Watch in wonder as the inspiring “Believe… in Holiday Magic” fireworks spectacular lights up the night sky and culminates in a finale of falling snow. (This is the BEST kind of snow—not cold at all!)
- The beloved toy soldiers lead in The Christmas Fantasy Parade where iconic snowflakes, reindeer, and of course Santa’s sleigh make their jolly way down Mainstreet USA.
- The “snowcapped” majesty of Sleeping Beauty’s Winter Castle illuminates the Disneyland Resort with hundreds of thousands of lights creating a breathtaking backdrop to the merry magic. (This is my absolute favorite thing about Christmastime at Disneyland and I think seeing it is worth the trip alone!)
-
- “it’s a small world” Holiday combines “Jingle Bells” with its classic song to warm the hearts with its yuletide message of “Peace on earth, goodwill to men.” Holiday traditions, décor, and costumes from around the globe take center stage on this darling holiday version of the classic attraction.
- Jack Skellington decks the halls of The Haunted Mansion in his own spellbinding way in this Nightmare Before Christmas favorite.
- No Christmas tree can compare with the towering tannenbaum gracing the entrance to Main Street USA. Gorgeous décor enveloping both Parks creates a winter wonderland of enchantment.
- World of Color shows its holiday spirit with special holiday scenes.
I seriously just LOVE the Holidays at Disneyland! Many families choose to travel during the holiday season in addition to, or in lieu of exchanging traditional gifts. I think the memories and traditions created during a Disneyland vacation far outweigh the brief excitement of toys and gadgets. My husband and I love to travel, so we normally put money in a travel fund for holidays instead of exchanging big gifts. If you think your family would go for a vacation instead of presents, I highly recommend doing it! There are so many ways to give the gift of a vacation from surprises (think a treasure hunt or puzzle to make the kids figure it out on Christmas morning) to having a family planning session beforehand and creating a family countdown to the big vacation. No matter what you chose to do, I hope you have a wonderful holiday season!
