Beauty Splurge vs. Save to get you through Thanksgiving Weekend

  beauty

I don’t know about all of you, but as the holiday season approaches I tend to have an increase in my stress levels.  It seems that the hustle and bustle of activity takes its toll on my sleep schedule and wreaks havoc on my skin.  The change in the humidity and temperatures can cause lips to dry, flake, and peel.  Of course, this is also the time of year when you connect with people you don’t see as frequently. So, here are a few tricks I have up my sleeve to help you look and feel a little bit more refreshed as you join the crowds for shopping, visit Aunt Edna,or stay up late attending the latest late night movie premiere…(eh hum Hunger Games, anyone?)

Spa

1- I have used Smith’s Rosebud Lip Salve  for years. It’s the only lipstuff I have repeatedly replaced. There is one in my purse, vanity, and nightstand. I definitely  don’t mind shelling out the $8 per container because it moisturizes my lips so well and I am addicted to the slightly rosy smell. BUT Vaseline just released its Rosy Lips Lip Therapy; formerly only available in the UK.  It’s so new to the U.S. there isn’t a link to buy it anywhere online yet, but I picked mine up at Target. It is a slightly rose tinted, berry-vanilla scented petroleum jelly that leaves lips light pink, soft, and protected. It comes in the tiniest little Vaseline container you have ever seen– think the size of a mini Reese’s. Bonus, it’s only $1.99 at your local drugstore! So you can get one for every purse, your car, your scripture case, computer desk drawer, coat pockets, ect.

2-Reading review after review about Tarte EmphasEYES ($19) I really wanted to get my hands on a good nude liner for my inner-rim. If you haven’t heard about this awesome makeup trick, here’s a little breakdown: Line your inner rim and inner corner of your eyes for an instant wake-up, eye brightening effect. So, you look more alert and ready to face the day than your brain really is! Great trick right? I also picked up the cheaper but equally as effective Rimmel ScandalEYES at the drugstore for around $4.

3- All time favorite  is so fresh, clean, and happy smelling. But since it is seasonal, it is difficult to find in stores. Plus, I am a cheapskate and don’t like to share my Bath and Body Works stuff with my husband or kids. But now I have my recent discovery, Dove GoFresh Revive Body Wash in Pomegranate and Lemon Verbena. With two 16oz bottle for $6.88, I can charitably share my fantastic smelling body wash with the whole family! It has a great combo of sweet and fresh scent that will help wake you up.

Hope you all have a brilliant weekend and can face the holidays with all the energy and enthusiasm of a four year old!! Or at least fake some of that energy and enthusiasm with some of these tips. Happy Thanksgiving!!!
