Meet Kallie. Creator & Editor!

Hi there, I am Kallie Dalley!

Yes, you read that right. 8 years ago I was blissfully in love and happily married into a rhyming name… smiling. Then reality hit & 8 years later it is still a constant work in progress not to laugh every time I have to say my full name out loud!

I am a wife to Brian and a momma to 2 crazy, adorable boys, who ROCK my world! They are a never ending adventure in what they will say and do next & I find SO much joy in that. I love to laugh and make others laugh too. I am always up for a good dance party with my kids, and live to see their eyes light up with laughter because of it. I am an avid reader, and a good book can only get better if I were sitting on the beach, basking in the sunshine while listening to the ocean.  I am smitten by interior design and old furniture. I love to take something old and broken and give it new life. I love lasting friendships, vacations with my family, and the feeling of being truly inspired.

Here on Smitten By… I will be openly sharing my road to recovery as I over come an Eating Disorder that has ruled my life. I will be sharing the ups and downs of my journey, along with the “ah ha” moments that speak to my soul and give me the courage to keep going.  I know in my heart that no matter your size, large or small, if you don’t love yourself  you will never be truly happy.  Join me on my journey of recovery, hope and healing.

You can also find me sewing pillows for my Etsy Shop at Urban Fringe or by clicking the shop button above!

A few of my favorite quotes:

 * “Sometimes courage is that little voice at the end of the day that says, I’ll try again tomorrow.” –Thomas S. Monson.

* “I don’t know the key to success, but the key to failure is trying to please everybody.” –Bill Cosby

“Whenever I get sad, I stop being sad and start being awesome instead!” -Barney Stinson

*” Shut. It. Down”- Lindsay Bowen

 Chores I hate doing:

Oh gosh…You ready for this?! I actually like to clean..alot. I just wish I had more time to do it and that little hands wouldn’t mess it up faster than I can clean it. If I had to pick one thing, I hate folding socks and underwear. If I didn’t like how tidy they looked in a drawer I’d bag this chore all together.

A project I could devote a year to:

You might laugh when you read this, but I know there are those of you who will totally relate… My project is trying to keep my sanity! You see, I have a project in my 18 month old little boy Beckham. He is a stinker in every sense of the word. He can climb chairs and scale walls. He can get his own drink out of the toilet, and you don’t have to buy him any toys because his favorite place to play is in the trash can. He loves to eat comet and dishwasher tablets. He can unroll a roll of toilet paper faster then you can blink. He has the shaking of the finger along with efficiently saying “no, no, no.” down. He has his 5 year old brother in tears and running for his life most of the time and somehow we all still LOVE and adore him. He keeps me on my toes.  And that, my friends, will be my project for the next couple of years!

The soundtrack of my life:

Haha.. Who came up with this one?! (Linds?)

What is one of the best parties you have been to?

Hmmm. Favorite party. Well I don’t know if this will count, but all of our friends from high school and few others we have added along they way go for a girls trip each year. This last year we went on a cruise to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico and I would say that qualifies for a party. All my favorite girl friends, the sun, a beach and lot’s and lot’s of laughing! If that doesn’t sound like a party I don’t know what else does.

What is the hardest thing you have ever done?

The hardest thing I have ever done is make the decision to get help for my eating disorder.  I remember getting on the Center for Change website, there they have a quiz you can take which can give you an idea of whether or not you have an eating disorder. They have you rate questions from 1-4 and then you add up the totals. Anything under a 30 indicates you have strong tendencies toward anorexia. I scored a 26 and in that moment it became real that I needed help to make a change. At the time it was really hard, but like most things in life taking the first step is the hardest, and once you have done it, you wonder what took you so long.

My sincerest hope is that when you visit Smitten By… you leave feeling empowered, inspired, uplifted and loved, knowing that you are not alone in whatever journey you are on. Lindsay and I, along with all of our contributors, want this to feel like a community of women who care about each other and want to see each other succeed on our paths to happiness!

Thanks for taking the time to get to know me!
