How to do it ALL- The REAL Life Version

Step 1Start on the internet. Head on over to Facebook. Pinterest and Insta. There are posts all over the internet, full of inspiration on how to live the BEST, awesomest, happiest, most amazing life.  I mean scroll through Pinterest for 5 minutes and be prepared for ALL THE ANSWERS to ALL of  life’s problems to be found – 10 ways to be happy, happy HAPPY, 5 tips to being the BEST mom EVER IN the history of moms, The ultimate 10 minute workout to have a killer bod (what is their definition of killer? Like, killer as in my body looks so NOT awesome it could kill you if your eyes set sight on it?)  15 Ways to decorate easter eggs, Get the PERFECT tan, 40 Freezer meals in 40 hours,  Plan the BEST teen party EVER. Now head on over to Facebook or Insta and scroll through your news feed. I am sure you will find some answers to life’s greatest mysteries. Things like this are sure to be found- I lost 27lbs in 3 weeks ask me how (shut the front door and hold the phone- the answer to losing weight is a Facebook message away.)  or this: A new app turns your Instagram pics into nail art- 2 words for ya LIFE CHANGING, or 25 Things women wish men knew- NOW WE ARE TALKIN’!!! Or what about something like this:

Made you laugh right??!! Background music would most definitely be life ALTERING! Make sure and pay attention to what the photo’s are tagged with, things like #hottesthusbandEVER #mostadorablekidsEVERmade #dreamhouse #theperfectlife- take notes of what these things look like, because these things will be expected of you. Annnnddd…don’t forget to post your selfie while your at it, those likes and words of praise are so IMPORTANT on your journey to being able to do it all.

 

So now, that you have wasted the last 3 hours scrolling though social media, you now know  what is expected and what it means to do it ALL. Pat yourself on the back you are one step closer to finding your inner superwoman.

 

STEP 2- There are 24 hours in a day MAKE EACH ONE COUNT. Need I say more?! Good luck. You are now 3 hours and 5 minutes short.

 

STEP 3- Give’rrrr HELL-  Map out your day by minutes- it is  the only way to get it all done. I’m serious. Give yourself a minute to brush your teeth, a minute to pee (if you are like me you’ll need 10 minutes. One for each of the ten times during the day and night), a minute to shower…you get the idea. Don’t forget to schedule in your 10 minute workout, and breaks to take care of the kids-whatever you do, DON’T forget you have kids that need you. Schedule in their meals, potty breaks, temper tantrums, and remember referring the chaos. Schedule in the laundry, house cleaning, and party planning- you’ll need to decorate, make the cake, and prepare the gift bag to send home with each kid. Oh and don’t forget about those 40 freezer meals that need assembling, and the easter eggs that need decorating. You also need to schedule in some time for your man- better get planning a date.Your office is a mess, you need a quick jaunt to Ikea to grab some things to simplify, simplify, simplify.  Also, remember you are trying to be a rockstar mom who does it all so don’t forget to implement the 5 things to make you the BEST mom ever in the history of mom’s – YOUR KIDS FUTURE is dependent on it.  That to-do list is getting’ pretty long but don’t worry you got this girl! Just a reminder time is a ticking’. tick tock. tick tock.

 

Step 4- Is the most important one of all the steps I have shared. Dammit, it’s time to GET REAL. Yep, you read that right get real.  Just typing all that out made me exhausted, and overwhelmed, and it wasn’t even, (EVER) in the history of my life going to happen.  Just reading what I expect out of myself is re-damn-diculous. I’m afraid being able to DO IT ALL is a big, fat, myth! One that each of us best be accepting. If you want to know what is wrong with our world it is this notion that we should be doing it all, perfectly, each day, without complaint. While there is nothing wrong with the 10 minute workout for a killer bod, the post with 40 freezer meal ideas, hosting the perfect teen party, or how to be the best mom and live a happy, happy life. Those are all things that can make our life better in some way. What IS wrong is our perception and interpretation of what we are supposed to do with these said things.

 

Here is an example; I know a lady who teaches people how to live happier lives, but what makes this so funny is she is NOT happy. She struggles with a lot of the same things her clients do. I am sure people look at her and think OMG that lady has her crap together, when in reality she is just like you, and me- trying to do her best each day.

 

If you are the dance party mom- dance it up. If you are the killer body lady- get your buff on. If you are the patient loving mom- hug and love on. If you are the umber creative crafter- carry on DIY warrior. If you are the Betty Crocker of the kitchen- stir on sista. If you are Martha Stewart reincarnate- party on party animal.

You cannot do it all, but what you can do, is choose the things you are capable of doing and do them fabulously.
